Two Year Healthcare Degree Programs

With the high demand for workers in healthcare, there are several exciting career opportunities available to anyone with a two (2) year degree in a healthcare program. Choosing the right two year healthcare college has now been made easier because of the Northwest Ohio Allied Health Education Consortium. The consortium combines the resources from four area institutions and offers two year degree programs in the following allied healthcare careers: Respiratory Care, Radiographic Imagining, Medical Laboratory Technician, Physical Therapist Assistant, Occupational Therapy Assistant and Health Information Technology.

Two year degree options

If you’re local community college does not offer a particular healthcare degree program, you can still acquire your 2 year healthcare degree from one of the other three consortium institutions. You take your general education courses at your local college and your program courses (offered by the distant college) via live videoconferences. Clinical requirements can be completed at your local hospitals and healthcare facilities requiring you to travel to the distant college for some laboratory work. The following 2 year allied healthcare programs are available through the Northwest Ohio Allied Health Education Consortium:

  1. Medical Laboratory Technician through Marion Tech’s degree program is available to Rhodes State and Northwest State students.
  2. Radiographic Imaging through Rhodes State’s degree program is available to students at Northwest State and Urban University.
  3. Respiratory Care is available through Rhodes State’s degree program is available to Marion Tech, Northwest State and Urban University students.
  4. Occupational Therapy Assistant is available through Rhodes State’s degree program to students at Marion Tech and Northwest State.

Advantages of a two year degree program

Aside from opening the opportunity for a career in healthcare after only two years, you can also explore other options including continuing your education at a four year institution. Some employers even offer to help pay for ongoing education and training under tuition assistance programs. Anyone wishing to continue their education can also apply for scholarship funds that are offered by professional associations
